Elections belong to people — not politicians

Speak up to protect Colorado’s citizens’ initiative process from political gamesmanship

Former House Speaker Terrance Carroll weighs in

In the final hours of the 2024 legislative session, lawmakers passed amendments — without debate and in less than a minute — to a routine elections bill that were cynically intended to invalidate a November citizens’ initiative around election reforms.

Politicians have every right to oppose a ballot measure. But they cannot be allowed to silence the voice of the people’s initiative process through backroom ploys.

Tell lawmakers to protect the citizen’s initiative process and repeal the “midnight amendments” (#53 and #54) from SB24-210.
